Are You New?

A man came up and introduced himself to me after church last Sunday, asking if I was a new face in the congregation.  "About 3 years ago," I replied.  Now I'd know of this man; seen him in the choir and at various events throughout the 3 years.  Was I so blended in with the background that I really wasn't noticed?
I always feel like I stick out like a sore thumb, especially because it's me with 4 kids bustling all around the pew.  But I guess not.
Now, I don't like attention focused on me and will quickly change the subject if talk is about me.  (I also remember as a child playing sports, I never even liked to score because then people would look at me - much better to get the assist!)  I even volunteer and do various other things at church.  Do I want to be noticed and get the recognition?  Yes and no.  Mostly no.  I'm content to be in the background, not being noticed.  Guess it must be working...
